Beach Programme

The Beach programme is based at the University of Bath under the watchful eye of Head Coach, Matt Grinlaubs, from Australia, who played at the highest level at the Olympics and on the FIVB World Tour. Morph Bowes was appointed as Women's Coach in May 2009. Other assistance is provided by Amanda (Mo) Glover who, along with Audrey Cooper, represented Great Britain at the Atlanta Olympic Games in 1996 and achieved a 9th place finish.

The facilities at Bath include two newly provided outdoor courts to the rear of the athletics track. Currently indoor facilities are being planned, but in the meantime the players train at Whitchurch Sports Centre in Bristol where there is one indoor court.

During the summer the players can be anywhere in the world on one of the tours and in the off-season they may be in warm weather training in Australia, California, Tenerife or elsewhere.
The Beach programme comprises the top players aiming for Olympic qualification in London 2012 as well as developing players benefiting from TASS (Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme) funding and some successful candidates unearthed by the UK Sport ‘Sporting Giants’ scheme.
