LIMERICK — International volleyball made a triumphant return to Ireland this weekend, and it did not disappoint. The UL Sport Arena played host to the highly anticipated 2026 BVF (British Volleyball Federation) Invitational Cup from July 31st to August 2nd, and the tournament has officially wrapped up as a massive success.
Previously known as the Five Nations Championship, the tournament was rebranded this year to reflect its immense potential for future growth and its capacity to welcome additional international teams. Featuring Senior Men’s and Women’s National Teams from across the BVF member nations and beyond, the three-day event delivered an incredible showcase of high-quality, competitive volleyball.
Thrilling Results and Standout Performances
The competition was fierce across both the men's and women's brackets. Feeding off the energy of a passionate home crowd, the Ireland Senior Women's National Team delivered a stellar campaign to secure a fantastic Third Place finish, followed by a thrilling five set match where Scotland were triumphant over England.
In the men's division, the Scotland Senior Men's National Team also put on an impressive display of resilience and skill, matching the host nation's success by taking home Third Place. This time it was England that pushed past Ireland’s senior men’s team to be crowned winners.
