Adelaide, Australia – 14–23 November 2025:
British Volleyball is proud to announce that Javier and Joaquin Bello have been granted a wild card entry to compete at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships 2025, set to take place in Adelaide, Australia.
This marks the first ever World Championship appearance for the Bello brothers, a milestone moment for British beach volleyball and a testament to their resilience and talent on the international beach volleyball stage.
After a challenging start to the 2025 season, where injury disrupted their early momentum, the Bellos have worked tirelessly to return to full fitness and form. Their determination and performances across the summer have been recognised by the FIVB and Volleyball World, earning them a coveted wildcard position among the world’s elite.
“We’re incredibly proud to see Javier and Joaquin earn this opportunity,” said Joanna Cook BVF Performance Lead, British Volleyball. “Despite setbacks earlier in the year, their commitment, professionalism and passion have shone through. This wildcard is not only a recognition of their ability but a reward for their perseverance.”
The 2025 Beach Volleyball World Championships will bring together the world’s top 48 men’s and women’s teams at one of the sport’s most iconic new venues, The Drive, located in the heart of Adelaide. The event will run from 14–23 November 2025, with matches broadcast live globally on VolleyballWorld.tv.
The Bellos will join the field as one of a handful of wild card pairs, representing England and Great Britain against the best in the world; an invaluable opportunity to compete on the sport’s biggest stage and move a step closer to qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
“This means so much to us,” said Javier Bello. “After the injury earlier this season, we’ve been focused on rebuilding and getting back to the level we know we can perform at. To be given the chance to compete at the World Championships - our first - is a huge honour and motivation.”
Joaquin Bello added: “We want to use this event to show what we’re capable of and to represent Great Britain proudly. It’s also a massive step towards our long-term goal - competing at the Olympic Games.”
The brothers’ selection advances British Volleyball’s strategic goal of building a world-class performance pathway and strengthening the connection between talent and elite performance.
